I've been putting off this hike for years, but since I was approaching my find 2000, it seemed like it was time. I actually had to get in a lot of quick finds recently so that we could make this trip before snow begins to fall. The culmination of this was a trip to Santa Barbara last Sunday for a dozen finds (including some old ones), followed by a quick trip to downtown San Diego on Wednesday for another dozen plus one.
Having now hit 1999, I met up with Lee and MrOspital and headed up Mt Baldy Rd, took the ski lift up to 7800 feet, then hiked the rest of the way to the summit. We planted three new boxes along the way, so now it's like a four box series that we hope will attract more finders. We found it safe and sound, right where it should have been. The only previous letterboxer in the logbook was from 2003. Finding such an old box in such great condition was just the icing on an amazing cake. One less item on the bucket list.
